Ruthie and Marcie: Best Friends Forever!! is live. It is published. And I know the ones who get a copy are going to love it! The picture below is a link to Amazon.
In this Lenten season as we look toward Easter, it is fitting to tell you I hope to resurrect Ruthie and Marcie soon. Ruthie is going to get a new look.
Plus, I am testing blog writing in a different browser to see if this will keep me from completely eliminating it as I write. And it seems to be working. Keep drawing -- no matter how badly you think you draw. Keep creating. You need it! We were made in the image of The Great Creator -- meaning since He creates constantly, it must mean that we who were made in His image will find delight in taking part in the creative process. I'll keep you posted on Ruthie and Marcie. The book will be rewritten because i think it is a gem of a book and needs to be published. I had a job over the holiday season illustrating a book about an agricultural drone named Daisy. It turned out pretty cute. I'll share a few pics from it and a link to Amazon where you can buy it if you so choose. Royalties don't go to me. They go to Author Eileen Shibley.
I learned a lot. It started with a potential client. Then did a few trial drawings to see if I could take the project. We found some common ground. The rough sketches were approved and then the final was completed. It is a process when you work with clients but it is a good thing too. I learned to love little Daisy. She came to life through the words and pictures. I couldn't remember what cat/day I was on so I had did a few more than I meant to do. It took a couple of weeks to get the internet (living on the Cheyenne River Reservation is a wonderful thing but it has its own time table). I kept drawing cats. Here they are: That is the end of my cat creative challenge.
What did I learn? I had to start thinking new ways or my cats would have all looked the same -- boring. Putting clothes on them and sharing my own emotions of the day with my sketches opened up a whole new way to do them. Doing something for 30+ days every day will stretch you even if you don't think it will. Try it. Creating every day is really good for your emotions and your brain, for your whole health. There are tons of ways to create -- as many ways as there are people in the world. Find what you love to do and do it. This is me in prayer this morning (though I haven't quite gotten to the place where my hands are lifted up). My 30 Day Creative Challenge is almost at an end. It has been a good thing. I'm thinking about drawing 30 dogs next... give yourself a challenge. It opens up your mind.
